The geography of the Omis Riviera
Omis is a small town located at the mouth of the River Cetina, only 21 km to the south of the biggest Croatian coastal city of Split.
By the motorway Split-Zagreb it is connected with the rest of the country. In Split, there are the main train station and it is also relatively close to the Split Airport (Kaštela).
The impressive “stone door”, through which the River Cetina cuts an exit to the Adriatic Sea, the people of Omis have used throughout history for their benefit. Mostly as a starting point for their “piracy business”. The position was very useful for defence, and is a unique tourist attraction on the Croatian coast today.

Climate of the Omis region
The climate is predominantly Mediterranean, with dry and humid summers and mild winters.

Economy of Omis
The most important economic branch is tourism. In addition, a pasta factory "Cetina" and the textile company "Galeb" are also successful in Omiš. In this area, people mainly grow olives, grapes and figs.
